PUWER Assessments

A PUWER assessment is not the same as a PUWER inspection. A PUWER assessment will identify the risks associated with the use and design of the equipment and follow the requirements detailed in the PUWER regulations to mitigate the risk.
What We Offer
Based in Newtownabbey, Carn Engineering offer PUWER assessments throughout Northern Ireland for any equipment deemed to be hazardous. Our certified PUWER assessor will
complete a full PUWER risk assessment against the individual PUWER Regulations, looking at guarding, installation, training, maintenance, and frequency inspection. We will give you practical advice on how to reduce the risks to reasonably practicable levels. The same approach can and should be taken in the ROI for compliance with the General Application Regulations SI299.

A thorough PUWER assessment is more than a compliance checkbox — it’s a proactive safeguard for your workforce and your business. By identifying risks associated with machinery, tools, and other work equipment, a professional PUWER risk assessment helps prevent accidents, reduce downtime, and ensure your operations meet legal safety standards.
At Carn Engineering, our certified PUWER assessors bring deep technical knowledge and practical insight to every assessment, tailoring our approach to suit your specific equipment and industry. Whether you're introducing new machinery or reviewing existing setups, our expert team ensures your compliance is robust and your people are protected.
